What is an Aura?

An aura can be described as the electromagnetic field (HEF - Human Energy Field) that surrounds the body – like an egg-shaped ball of energy that encompasses the body. All living things have auras. An aura is usually three feet (just under a metre) from your physical body. It consists of seven levels/layers/auric bodies, also known as the physical, astral, lower, higher, spiritual, intuitional, and absolute planes. These exist around the physical body at their own unique frequency and correspond to the seven chakras. The energy from the chakras produces the auras. The auric layers are interrelated, and each body affects the others. They also affect a person’s feelings, emotions, thought patterns, behaviour, and overall health.

 

If a person walks passed you, or very close to you, they may unintentionally zap some of your energy. If someone suddenly reaches out and grabs your arm, they are interrupting the flow of energy around your body. Interaction with people at home, work, in your social spheres and in public places can leave a person feeling like their energy has been zapped or drained from them. Just like with chakras, a state of imbalance in one of the auric bodies can lead to a state of imbalance in the others.

 

What is Smudging?

Smudging is an ancient practice used by various cultures across the globe. Ceremonial by its nature, you burn sacred plants, wood or herbs, such as sage and palo santo, to allow the smoke to clear away negativity and bless a person or space. Sound and salt can also be utilized for clearing the aura.

 

Benefits of Smudging

 

If you’re feeling stuck, negative, sluggish, or even downright depressed when you know you should be feeling otherwise, it may be due to some stagnant energy in your energy field. Negative energy, if left unattended over a period of time, can have extremely detrimental effects on your mental and physical state.
